So I read something very interesting in Exodus 16, where God sends manna and quails from heaven for the people of Israel who had just come out of Egypt. He instructed the people to only take as much manna (circular pieces of bread) as the number of people in each household. But knowing people, some of them took a few extra for the next morning.
The next morning, the extra manna went bad and stank the whole place, and everyone else knew who had disobeyed the Lord.
You see, this is how we are even today. We find it so hard to trust God, to rely on Him. These Israelites had just seen God open up the Red Sea before their eyes. They walked on dry land in the middle of a sea, and yet they could not take God at His word when He promised that He would send a fresh lot of manna every morning. Isn’t that sad?
It is written that those who consistently disobeyed God never got to the Promised Land. They died in the desert. For us, our desert is where we are right now.
When the manna went bad the next morning, people stopped taking extra. This was God’s way of training them. Today, God trains us in much the same way.
We keep doing things in a certain way and end up getting the same result. We get caught up in a vicious cycle of plenty followed by lack, then again plenty, then lack, and still we don’t learn.
All God wanted the Israelites to do was to obey. And if they obeyed, they would live to enjoy the good land God was trying to get them to.
How many of us won’t ever see or taste God’s goodness simply because we won’t listen? He is trying to show us the light and the truth, but we ignore Him because we have become so set in our ways — ways that have been dictated by people and not even by God.
As Christians, followers of Christ, shouldn’t we be referring to our handbook, our instruction manual — the Holy Bible — for guidance on how to live and how to find answers to our problems?
God has been speaking to us tirelessly over the ages through His prophets, but we have chosen to ignore Him and continue with our senseless traditions, walking around with blinkers on.
My friends, return to God. Break away from false religion and start your own expedition to know the truth.
The New Testament is all about what our Lord Jesus instructed us to do. The Old Testament is about God preparing the world to receive the Lord Jesus Christ, and as we know, even He was rejected.
Don’t do the same, my friends. Wake up and return to the only true living God there is. Jesus said the road to Heaven is narrow and the road to hell is wide, because He knew how many would simply not listen.
Don’t be among those heading towards hell. Join the few who are moving towards Heaven — towards God.

Closing Prayer
Lord,
You know how hard it is for us to trust You — not just with big miracles, but with everyday provision.
Forgive us for the times we rely more on our own ways than on Your promises.
Teach us to trust You daily, not just when we are desperate.
Help us to listen, to obey, and to walk in Your ways — not the ways we have learned from people or tradition.
Give us fresh manna for today, and the humility to receive it.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
If this spoke to you today, don’t keep it to yourself.
Share it with someone who may be struggling to trust God right now — we all need reminders sometimes.
God bless you, my friends.
