This scripture came alive for me recently. I woke up with a heaviness that had been sitting on my heart for some time. I prayed, I read the Word, and something within me recognized how much I had been longing for God — deeply, quietly, continuously.
Later, while walking my dog, I began to play the song “As the Deer”. And as I sang, something shifted. Nothing in my life circumstances had changed. The challenges were still there. The bank account hadn’t moved. But joy rose up in me — gently, steadily, almost unexpectedly.
I felt the presence of God with me.
And I was reminded of Peter walking on the water. As long as his eyes were on Jesus, he walked above the storm. The waves didn’t stop. The wind didn’t quiet. The miracle was simply this: Jesus was near.
Sometimes the presence of God does not remove the problem.
He simply meets us inside it.
And that is enough.
If your heart is weary today, if something is weighing on you, try this:
Just sing.
Sit with Him.
Let your soul breathe again.
He is nearer than the storm.
He is nearer than the fear.
And the joy will return.
In Christ always,
Rebecca
